Some situations, an on-premises server is much more cost-effective and just simply works. But in some circumstances, a cloud server is best. It all depends on the infrastructure of the company using it and how they work on a day-to-day basis.

A virtual server is not like a physical server; it’s a server that exists virtually on the physical hardware. It looks the same and functions the same from the user’s point of view, but it doesn’t require the same level of dedicated hardware as a physical server, so it can be a cost-effective way of increasing your server capacity.

Yes. An ageing Windows Server can still be migrated to a newer operating system. We’ll do all the legwork for the migration so the user doesn’t notice anything changing from their perspective, and all data will be migrated and replicated. Even if the server is in a partially failed state, there’s still a chance we can replace it and migrate the data, as we’ve managed to recover from some archaic servers in the past!

Yes, this is often the natural transition if you’re wanting to move away from an on-premises or virtual server-based solution. Again, Central IT can manage the process and advise you on the best solution for your requirements, while keeping costs to a minimum where they need to be.

Absolutely. We’ve carried out many server migrations and always aim to keep downtime and disruption to an absolute minimum. Depending on your requirements and individual setup, this may involve moving to a new physical server, a virtual environment, the cloud or a hybrid solution. Often, hybrid solutions can work better and turn out to be more cost-effective in many cases.

This is a commonplace thing for Central IT to provide ongoing support after an installation. It isn’t a requirement, but it is something we’d always recommend in order to keep your systems running smoothly for the foreseeable future.

Server backups are part of our ongoing maintenance support contracts, giving the client peace of mind that their systems are being looked after. If you’ve not got a support contract and would like us to look into backup or disaster recovery solutions, of course we can do this on an ad-hoc basis as well. We’re here to help!
